Camper Inspection Checklist

We created a guide to buying either a new or used Rv. This guide can be applied to any style of Rv, motorhome, or travel trailer. (Printable)

Hello, Campers!

Today’s post is all about buying a camper.

Whether you are planning to live in it full-time like us, or you are looking for one for seasonal use, there are a lot of things you should be looking for as a potential buyer. Buying anything can be a headache, especially when you are budgeting or getting a loan. There are also a lot of other things you should be thinking about that usually come to mind a lot quicker; such as the layout design or the paint colors and if it will fit everyone you include in your travel family.

Some of the things we look for are usually surface information. How much is their asking price? Will you need a loan, or cash to purchase the rig? How much will insurance cost? What year range are you looking for and which Rv/ camper fits your family the best? Does your chosen Camper have more than one previous owner? Has it been serviced within the last year? Will you be mostly Boon-docking or staying at Rv parks and resorts?

While all these questions deserve adequate thought and answers, you may be overlooking other important information. When Chris and I were searching for your rig, we knew certain specifications had to be met. We needed it to be an Airstream ( as this is our dream rig, besides a Wanderlodge) we also made sure it would fit our journey of full-time living. We also had a budget and knew we would have to get a loan.

Chris and I have designed a printable checklist for everyone to use. You can take it with you and gives you a comprehensive checklist for everything you could possibly think of in regards to buying a rig. Everything from making sure to check fluid levels, to checking the hitch. You can download it from here, print it out and it has room for writing down your notes.

Shopping for an RV or camper does not have to be a hassle.

Even if you have already purchased your dream rig, have you checked all of these items? There may be some stuff you may have overlooked. Chris and I know we did, simply because of excitement and not having a clear list of things to check. We hope this list is able to help you, and hopefully able to ease some of the pains of RV hunting. After all, they are important to this style of life.

If you found this helpful, we will be releasing our customizable Emergency/Home binder system next week! It will be available for purchase through our website. Stay Tuned!

Questions to ask yourself- Comment below, we would love to hear your take!
